Why Our Trail Ride

Broken Gait Trail Rides are the memory makers on horseback - we are the stuff of dreams.

Most of the dreams conceived in childhood do not survive the cold transition into adulthood. If they did, we'd have way too many firemen, movie stars, and presidential candidates.

But there is one fantasy that lingers in the hearts of kids who grow up to become doctors, nurses, lawyers, accountants, teachers, homemakers, laborers, salespeople, supervisors, computer tech specialists..... We all yearn to be cowboys—even if just for a day.

The memory of your day trail ride will fill your senses with the scents of native wildflowers and fresh clean air under a clear blue sky, the sounds of gentle babbling brook,  and the soft whoosh of a horse's breath on your cheek. Who says dreams can't come true? If you harbor such dreams, or see them in the eyes of your children, you owe it to yourself to spend a day on a Broken Gait Trail Ride.

While an all day outing from sunrise to sunset conjure up visions of grandeur in the wilderness, our experience shows that most people do the best on a 2 - 3 hour adventure.  Horseback riding requires muscles that many people are not accustomed to using regularly, therefore a longer ride may leave you a bit sore for the next few days.  4 hours away from camp is not a fun place to be if you are tired and sore, or if a sudden storm pops up.  Therefore, a nice 2 - 3 hour horseback ride is just right - not too long and not too short.

Most people do not want to own a horse for the occasional 2 - 3 hour trail ride, every now and then.  Therefore, leasing or renting a trail horse from Broken Gait Trail Rides allows you to enjoy the great outdoors, without the headaches and hassles of horse ownership.

Many people dream of enjoying the countryside on horseback, however do not know where to begin, or do not want the hassles or expense of Full-Time Horse Ownership, or do not know exactly what the expenses are and what they might be getting in to.

Horse Ownership can be very costly and very time consuming.  Therefore, many people love to be able to enjoy a nice leisurely horseback ride every month or every few months or even once a year, without all the other responsibilities of horse ownership.  This really is the Better Option for many people and can be far less expensive for the occasional rider.

Not everyone has the time, commitment, or financial resources available to them to allow them to own their own horse, so we take care of all that so you can enjoy horses and riding without the fuss and expense. We work tirelessly 365 days a year in all kinds of weather so that you can enjoy our horses when the weather conditions are more suitable for riding.

Broken Gait Trail Rides is not responsible for loss or injury.  All riders must sign your waiver and release form prior to your scheduled ride.
